What is Cakes By Lexi and why should you care?
Frankly, you don't have to care. But for those of you who were curious enough to seek out our "Who We Are" page, here's the answer.
We are a bespoke cookie studio based out of New York City. Founded back in 2015, Cakes By Lexi began as a humble Instagram account used by owner and founder, Alexis Ong, as a portfolio of her hideous cakes. She picked the very uncreative username, @cakesbylexi, and it stuck.
As time went on, Alexis realized that she didn't love making cakes. Decorated sugar cookies were her new obsession, and not only did Alexis love making them, it came naturally to her in a way that cakes never did. Thus began Cakes By Lexi's slow transition away from a cake studio and into a cookie studio. But we still love the name and its history, so we've decided to keep it (despite how misleading it is).
Nowadays, Cakes By Lexi is a lot more than a teenager’s bad Instagram account. We have evolved into a luxury business that is here to offer New Yorkers delicious, high-quality miniature artwork that your guests won't believe are edible.
Because of Alexis’s background in typography and graphic design, our work is highly influenced by digital artwork. We specialise in clean lines, bright colours, small lettering, and graphic styles. Our attention to detail is truly unmatched, so the smaller and more intricate, the better. We especially excel at recreating company logos and products in cookie form and capturing the essence of a brand.
And while we do work hard, we also have a lot of fun here at Cakes By Lexi. Alexis’s silly and somewhat vulgar personality absolutely comes through in her work and she loves taking the most inappropriate orders. She's highly influenced by pop culture, and most of Alexis's passion projects feature icons from her favourite TV shows and video games. So don’t be embarrassed to share your wildest ideas with her!
Whether you’re a parent trying to impress the in-laws at your kid’s birthday party, a maid of honour trying to spice up a bridal shower, or a company looking for branded products that people actually want (no more drawstring backpacks!), we are here to help.

OUR Dedication TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Cakes By Lexi is incredibly passionate about sustainability and believes that the food industry as a whole needs to do better. In her daily life, Alexis is very conscious of her environmental impact, and as a result, Cakes By Lexi is too.
We avoid single-use plastic whenever possible, especially in our packaging. We compost all organic waste with our friends at Groundcycle, and all orders are made-to-order to eliminate product waste. When given the option to order products made from recycled components, we do, like our business cards and thank you cards. |
